Jose Mourinho has been positive during Man United tour - Lee Grant

Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant said Jose Mourinho has been supportive and upbeat while working with players during the International Champions Cup.

Mourinho has expressed his frustration on a number of topics in recent weeks, from the club's transfer business to the depth of the squad in the United States to Anthony Martial leaving his teammates to attend the birth of his son.

"From what we're getting from the inside it, [the atmosphere] has been nothing but positive," Grant, who joined United on a £1.5 million deal earlier this summer, told Sky Sports. "He's come in even after the Liverpool [defeat] and spoken very highly of what we've have given as a team and as a unit.

"The messages we are getting from the manager are positive ones and that is important for us going forward. His attitude and demeanour around the place is great and that is helpful for us especially when we are under-manned and we are working our hardest."

Mourinho, entering his third season with United, was particularly critical of his players after the 4-1 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday, insisting that a side with only four or five regulars "is not our squad."
