Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku should return for FA Cup final - Jose Mourinho

MANCHESTER, England -- Romelu Lukaku has been ruled out of Manchester United's Premier League clash with Brighton but Jose Mourinho is hopeful he will be fit for the FA Cup final.

Lukaku has spent the week receiving treatment in Belgium after suffering an ankle injury during the 2-1 win over Arsenal. He will not be available for the trip to the Amex Stadium on Friday night, but Mourinho is confident he will be fit to line up at Wembley on May 19.

"I just know that, of course, not tomorrow. Apart from that we need to wait for more scans, more time. It looks positive [for the FA Cup final]," Mourinho told a news conference on Thursday.

Lukaku missed the club's player of the year awards on Tuesday night while he receives treatment at the Move to Cure clinic in Antwerp.

David De Gea scooped both the players' player and player of the year award -- his fourth success in the last five years -- and Mourinho insists the Spaniard was a good choice despite saying last season "something is wrong" if the goalkeeper is a team's best player.

He said: "It is not so surprising because Ronaldo, Messi, Messi, Ronaldo don't give many chances, but is quite surprising in the big international awards there is never a goalkeeper on them.

"Goalkeepers are fundamental in teams and David is having a very good season in the club and I don't see it as a problem.

"Looking at this season there were a few other players who wouldn't be a bad choice to get the award but David was very consistent, he had some almost iconic saves because they were so fantastic and beautiful, so I feel good with it."
