MANCHESTER -- Manchester United are hopeful Marcus Rashford will be fit for the FA Cup tie with Huddersfield Town this weekend, sources have told ESPN FC.
Rashford missed the defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday after straining a hip muscle during the 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Feb. 3.
He is expected to be back in contention for the FA Cup fifth-round tie with Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday evening.
However, sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho may yet decide to save the England international for back-to-back games against Sevilla and Chelsea next week.
Despite the injury, the 20-year-old was given permission by the club to attend the England kit launch in London last week and travelled with the squad for the game at St. James' Park on Saturday.
But after being assessed by medical staff, it was decided Rashford was not fit to play. It was the first time this season the forward has missed out on a matchday squad.
Mourinho confirmed ahead of kickoff Rashford was suffering from a "little tweak in the muscle."
After facing Huddersfield, United travel to Spain for the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie on Wednesday before facing Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.
A win for Antonio Conte's side, currently fourth in the Premier League, would put them level on 56 points with United with 10 games to play.
There is also hope that Ander Herrera will be able to feature against Sevilla and Chelsea after missing the last two games with a thigh problem.
The midfielder is set to be monitored this week before a decision is taken about whether he is fit enough to return to training before travelling to Sevilla on Tuesday.
