Man United's Andreas Pereira loses licence for eight months for speeding

Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira has apologised on social media after having his licence temporarily removed by a judge for driving almost three times over the speed limit.

Levante reported that the 21-year-old, currently on a season-long loan at Valencia from United, was caught by a speeding radar on Monday afternoon driving his Bentley at 148 km/h on an urban area in Valencia where the speed limit is 50 km/h.

Pereira stood before a judge on Tuesday in Valencia and was fined €3,600 (£3,212) as well as having his licence withdrawn for eight months.

Andreas Pereira is on a season-long loan at Valencia.

The midfielder expressed regret over his lack of judgement, tweeting: "I'm truly sorry for driving in my car at an excessive speed yesterday afternoon, I will accept the punishment given to me."

Pereira added: "It's important to be cautious when driving and always respect the rules. Lesson learned."

The Brazil under-21 international has made six La Liga appearances, three as a starter, to help Valencia, who are unbeaten, climb to second in the table after eight games played.
