Man United fear Paul Pogba could miss Liverpool clash - sources

MANCHESTER -- Manchester United fear Paul Pogba could miss next month's Premier League clash with Liverpool because of the hamstring injury he suffered against Basel on Tuesday, sources have told ESPN FC.

The France international was forced off in the first half of the 3-0 win over the Swiss champions. Pogba did not need to go to hospital but left Old Trafford on crutches.

He had a scan at United's Carrington training base on Wednesday to determine the severity of the problem, with the club now sweating on the midfielder's fitness for the trip to Anfield on Oct. 14.

It is the second hamstring injury Pogba has suffered this year after missing three games in March and April last season.

Speaking after the Champions League victory over Basel on Tuesday night, manager Jose Mourinho all but ruled Pogba out of Everton's visit to Old Trafford on Sunday.

After Ronald Koeman's side, United play Burton Albion, Southampton, CSKA Moscow and Crystal Palace before the next set of international fixtures.

France play World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus during the two-week break before United travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.
