Luke Shaw, Ashley Young work separately at Man United training

LOS ANGELES -- Luke Shaw and Ashley Young trained separately as Manchester United got their preseason preparations underway in California.

Jose Mourinho's squad trained at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus on Monday morning after arriving in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

Romelu Lukaku was part of the group after his £75 million move from Everton was announced just an hour before the session was due to start.

Shaw and Young trained away from the main group as they continue their recovery from injuries. They went through a light warm-up, including a walk around the running track while Mourinho watched the rest of the players train in near 30-degree (°C) heat.

Shaw damaged ankle ligaments at the end of last season while Young suffered a hamstring injury during the Europa League semifinal against Celta Vigo.

Mourinho also planned out his goalkeeper rotation for the beginning of the tour, which begins against MLS side LA Galaxy on Saturday before next week's game against Real Salt Lake in Utah on July 17.

"First match, Romero doesn't play, we play David [De Gea] 45 [minutes], the kid [Pereira] 45, and second match, David doesn't play, the kid plays 45 and Romero 45 and third match against Man City, Joel doesn't play and David and Romero [will] play 45," he told MUTV.

United previously reported that Mourinho had said "Romelu" would not face the Galaxy, but later confirmed the coach had said "Romero."
