Jesse Lingard signs new four-year deal with Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has signed a new four-year contract at Old Trafford, the club announced on Thursday.

Lingard, who broke through at United under the management of Louis van Gaal last season, had put pen to paper on a deal committing him to the club until 2021, with an option for a fifth year.

Sources told ESPN FC the new deal will see the 24-year-old paid £80,000 a week, and up to £100,000 a week with performance and appearance bonuses.

"Manchester United has always been a big part of my life," Lingard said in a statement. "I have been with the club since the age of seven and I feel great pride every time I pull the shirt on. To have scored in two cup finals for my boyhood club were immensely proud moments for me and my family.

"As a team, we have already won a major trophy this season and I look forward to helping us win many more under this great manager. I would like to say a special thank you to the fans for the great support they have always given me and the team."

Lingard has made 70 appearances in all competitions for United, scoring 11 goals, including three at Wembley.

"Jesse has been with the club since the age of seven," coach Jose Mourinho said. "He has good intelligence which, when combined with his energy and ability, makes for a player with a great future ahead of him.

"Jesse is a popular member of the squad and I am delighted he has signed a new contract."

In September, sources said Lingard -- who scored the winner as United beat Crystal Palace in last season's FA Cup final -- was in advanced talks, with United confident of finalising matters.

The player spent loan spells at Leicester, Birmingham and Brighton before establishing himself as a regular in the United side last season.
