Man United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic won't face charge for Cabaye clash - sources

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not face a charge for violent conduct in relation to an incident involving Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye during Manchester United's 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park on Wednesday, sources close to the Football Association have told ESPN FC.

United striker Ibrahimovic, who scored the late winner for Jose Mourinho's team, was caught on camera appearing to catch former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Cabaye with his arm during the second half.

But sources within the FA have confirmed to ESPN FC that the Swede will not face further action and therefore be free to face West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

With referee Craig Pawson missing the off-the-ball incident, however, it was referred to the FA's panel of former match officials for further scrutiny.

Three former referees separately studied footage of the incident, but at least one of those ex-officials judged the incident to be not worthy of a red card.

Under FA rules, if one of the three former referees insists that incidents do not require further action, no charge is applied.
