Borthwick-Jackson not playing at Wolves due to inexperience - Lambert

Manchester United's Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has not been playing during his loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers because he lacks experience, according to Wolves manager Paul Lambert.

Borthwick-Jackson, 19, joined Wolves on a season-long loan deal in the summer under the Championship club's previous manager Walter Zenga, who was succeeded by Lambert last month.

Borthwick-Jackson made seven appearances for Wolves at the start of the season, but has yet to feature under Lambert, who says a decision will be made on the defender's future over the coming weeks.

"Cameron's obviously on loan here and hasn't really featured under me, just because I felt we needed a bit more experience," Lambert told the Express & Star.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has yet to play for Wolves under Paul Lambert.

"He's a young lad, a tidy and nice footballer, and he's got to fight his way to get into the side. But he never lets himself down in training. He trains well.

"Come January, [Wolves sporting director] Kevin Thelwell and myself will start to get the squad we think can help. There's been no official decision on Cameron and won't be for another few weeks."

Borthwick-Jackson started his career as a trainee at United and was promoted into the first team last season by former manager Louis van Gaal.

The defender made 14 appearances in that campaign, also winning the club's Under-21 Player of the Year award.
