Juan Mata praises 'beast' Antonio Valencia on Manchester United return

Antonio Valencia has been described as a "beast" by his Manchester United teammate Juan Mata.

Valencia, 31, played the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 home draw against Arsenal on Saturday and gave an impressive display, in which he was unlucky to not win a penalty after falling following a challenge by Nacho Monreal.

It was the Ecuadorian's first appearance for United since he was ruled out with a fractured arm after the 1-0 derby win over Manchester City in the EFL Cup on Oct. 26.

Mata told MUTV: "He is a beast. He is a great player and very important for us, defending and going forward. He gives us a lot on the right flank."

United midfielder Michael Carrick also paid tribute, saying: "Antonio has been incredible at right-back since he has moved to that position.

"His positional play has improved a lot and I think that's told. He has been our best player in a lot of our games this season.

"To come back so quick from a broken bone speaks volumes for him and his attitude to get back and play."

Valencia dedicated his Man of the Match award to the medical staff.

He wrote on Instagram: "We regret not having the three points, but other matches will be better. I also want to dedicate this award to all the Manchester United medical corps. Thank you for having patience with my recovery."
