Ryan Giggs has said that he would drop down to League One for a chance in management but he would put any potential employers under scrutiny.
Giggs left Manchester United in the summer, having spent two years as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal, in the hope of pursuing a career in management. He was replaced as No. 2 at United by Rui Faria, who was brought in by new manager Jose Mourinho.
Speaking at a Hospitality Action's Sporting Legends event, at Hotel Football in Manchester, Giggs said: "I'd be happy with a good job in the Championship because you've got to be open to anything -- Premier League, Championship, League One.
"The main thing is that the club you join have your beliefs, that they believe in youth, and are run the right way. And I believe they shouldn't just interview you, you should interview them.
"Six months down the line, you don't want to be saying 'this is what I wanted, you agreed to it, and now you aren't doing it.'
"So as long as the club is right for you, and them for you, it doesn't matter whether it's Premier League or lower League."
Giggs was asked about another Premier League midfield legend, Steven Gerrard, who has been linked to a job at Milton Keynes Dons after leaving MLS side LA Galaxy.
"Milton Keynes and Los Angeles are similar, aren't they?" Giggs joked. "But it would be fantastic for him. The more top players who go into coaching, or try their luck in management, the better.
"Steven was a fantastic player, one of the best players I ever played against. I don't know the ins and outs of what MK Dons is like as a club but, if he gets the job, it will be interesting to see how he does."
