Henrikh Mkhitaryan has all the tools in his game to become a star at Manchester United, according to former club winger Jesper Blomqvist.
Mkhitaryan, 27, has failed to settle quickly into Jose Mourinho's United team after his high-profile summer move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund.
Mourinho called the Armenian out at the start of November to "do more" to earn his spot in the team as he competes for playing time with Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.
However, retired Sweden international Blomqvist believes it could be down to timing as Mkhitaryan continues to acclimate to life in England's top flight.
"He can definitely become a star," Blomqvist told MUTV. "United is a big club and it takes longer to settle in for some players.
"Maybe Henrikh needs a little more time to settle in but, when you see how he reads the game and what he has achieved elsewhere, it's surely only going to be a matter of time before he shows us what he can do at Old Trafford."
For his part, the 27-year-old remains adamant that he will do everything he can to earn his place in the team, calling Mourinho "one of the best in the world" and vowing to grow as a player and person at Man United.
"It was definitely not the salary that made me join Manchester United," Mkhitaryan said. "I went for football reasons. For the history of the club, the league, the fans and the coach, because he is one of the best in the world.
"There are no disappointments, just challenges. I never stop or give up when I encounter obstacles in my way. I just continue going until I reach my career objectives.
"Today I don't have enough playing time, so I have to do all my best so the coaching staff gives me the chance to play. I know I can succeed at Manchester United and I want to show everyone that I deserve to be a key player in this team, in this league."
