Paul Pogba needs time to adapt at Manchester United - Thierry Henry

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says his fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba still needs time to adjust to the Premier League but backed the Manchester United midfielder to prove his worth.

United bought Pogba from Juventus for a world-record transfer fee of £89.3 million in the summer, but he has struggled to live up to the price tag so far.

The France international was criticised for his performance in the 4-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday, and has been unable to replicate the dominant displays he regularly produced at Juventus.

But Henry has called for patience with Pogba, saying he is still learning how to fit into Jose Mourinho's team at United.

"Jose Mourinho is still looking for the best XI, best system. When I came [to the Premier League], I was not playing well," Henry, who went on to become Arsenal's record goal scorer, told reporters.

"I have faith in Pogba. Nowadays, people want things to happen very fast. He needs time to adapt."

Pogba was nominated for this year's Ballon d'Or, but Henry did not list him among the favourites to win the award.

"One of [Gareth] Bale, Leo [Lionel Messi], [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Antoine] Griezmann could win the Ballon d'Or," Henry said. "I have played with Leo, so you know how I would feel if he wins. It is difficult to see anyone coming between him and Ronaldo."
