Man United yet to develop old 'winning feeling' - Stoke's Mark Hughes

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says he is relishing the chance to face former club Manchester United this weekend but feels Jose Mourinho's side do not currently have the "winning feeling" they had during his era.

Hughes -- a striker at United -- won two league titles, three FA Cups and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup across two spells at Old Trafford, with the second coming under Alex Ferguson from 1988 to 1995.

"I won numerous trophies there and I always get a nice feeling going back in there," Hughes said in his media conference on Friday.

"I played in a winning team that had the mind-set to win every game. I'm not sure whether the current group have that feeling yet.

"They have addressed some of their failings from last year with some very big signings and you can see the club's intent. It is maybe a little bit of a transitional period, but you sense that there will be a marked improvement on where they finish."

Mourinho's side host Stoke on Sunday afternoon, with the Potters still searching for their first win at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

In the eight full seasons the club have spent in the top flight, they have lost every time they have played United away, with an aggregate score of 25-6.

"We have a box that we would like to tick that we haven't been able to tick yet -- getting a positive result at Old Trafford," Hughes said.

"We have broken a few records in my time here and we have another opportunity to do that this weekend. It will be tough though. We want the first win and we are sure that it will come soon, although that will be difficult this weekend."

Hughes also confirmed that goalkeeper Jack Butland is further away from an injury comeback than first thought. The England international has been out with an ankle problem since the opening weekend of the season, and his manager says he is "at least four weeks" away from returning.
