Manchester United have made 'leap in quality' this season - David De Gea

Manchester United have had a "leap in quality" this season, according to their goalkeeper David De Gea.

The Spaniard praised the speedy adaptation of new signings Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba. He also pointed out how much of a well-drilled unit United have become under new manager Jose Mourinho.

De Gea told The Guardian: "The new signings and a new manager have given us a leap in quality. We have played four very good games so far and what we have to do now is continue in the same way.

"We're a very well-organised team, the manager is a winner and he transmits that very well. We have three or four new players who have adapted very well, very quickly."

United have certainly improved in terms of being a physically imposing side, making them a threat from set pieces and crosses. Ibrahimovic has already scored two headed goals, against Leicester City and Southampton, and the United goalkeeper is impressed by the Swede's stature.

De Gea said: "When you see Zlatan up close, he's even more imposing than on the television.

"Zlatan is very, very big, very strong and his control of the ball is incredible. It can seem like he's not there and then he goes and scores the decisive goal."
