Antonio Valencia has said he is "not interested in personal glory" after Manchester United teammate Ander Herrera described him as the world's best right-back at the moment.
Valencia was impressive in preseason and has become United's regular right-back under Jose Mourinho, leading Herrera to tell ESPN FC: "We are lucky to have him."
Valencia told MUTV: "I'm grateful for Ander's kind words but what I try and do is to simply work hard every day in training. I want to put a shift in for United, the team that I love. I'm not interested in personal glory like that, not at all."
Valencia has been an ever-present under Jose Mourinho and he described the former Chelsea' manager's impact at United in glowing terms.
"I think he's given a really positive boost of confidence to the side and that can be seen out there on the field," he said. "Everyone is feeling confident, everyone wants the ball and that's a very good sign."
Valencia also appreciates the options Zlatan Ibrahimovic brings to the team: "Now we have someone in the box who we can aim for. In addition, we know exactly who he is and that he's made a great impression at whatever club he's played at."
