Man United's Morgan Schneiderlin 'not fully satisfied' with first year at club

Morgan Schneiderlin has vowed to improve after admitting that he is not fully satisfied with how his first season at Manchester United has gone.

Schneiderlin, 26, was one of the headline signings for United in a busy summer transfer window as he moved from Southampton in a deal thought to be worth £25 million.

The central midfielder penned a four-year contract and has since made 24 starts in the Premier League.

Schneiderlin readily acknowledges, however, that he has had a mixed campaign.

"I've been like the squad -- some good matches and some that were not as good," the France international told L'Equipe 21.

"But everything is definitely different at Manchester United. A good match at Southampton can be viewed as a bad one in Manchester."

Schneiderlin said shortly after joining the club that United manager Louis van Gaal was "very strict" and "very hard to satisfy."

Having had to adapt after spending seven seasons at Southampton, he hopes his second year at Old Trafford will be more consistent.

"When I signed for Manchester United, I wanted to play all the matches -- to play well all the time," he said.

"So I'm not fully satisfied. I'm not dissatisfied, I'm not satisfied -- I'm in the middle.

"But it's my first year. I'm convinced that I'll come back very, very strong next season."

Schneiderlin was part of France's 2014 World Cup squad but his involvement at international level has since been threatened by the emergence of Leicester City's N'Golo Kante.

So much so that he is a little apprehensive as France coach Didier Deschamps gets ready to announce his 23-man squad for Euro 2016 on Thursday.

"It would be a lie to say that I'm 100 percent optimistic," Schneiderlin said. "My chances have decreased a little bit.

"But it would also be lying if I said that I don't believe I'll make it."
