Man United's Marcos Rojo praises Tim Fosu-Mensah and Marcus Rashford

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo says the emergence of Marcus Rashford and Tim Fosu-Mensah has come as no surprise to anyone at the club.

Rashford and Mensah were both handed their first-team debuts in the last week of February when United were suffering with injuries, and have continued to be used due to their impressive displays.

Striker Rashford has scored seven goals in just 12 appearances, while Fosu-Mensah has featured on eight occasions including three starts.

Both began the season in United's under-18s, but they are now firmly part of the first-team squad.

"It might have come as a surprise to everyone else, but certainly not us," Rojo told MUTV. "It is not a surprise for us because they have been training with us for a while so we had seen what they could do.

"Tim has great maturity and copes really under pressure, while Marcus has been vital for us and has brought us some important goals that came in fantastic wins for us."

The Argentina defender also had some praise for his centre-back colleagues at United, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind.

Rojo added: "What's really worked is that their respective styles have complemented one another.

"You might say that Daley is not the most physical of central defenders, but he makes up for that with his ability to play the ball out of defence. Chris is a skilful player too, but he's known for his strength and power. Those two things really strike a great balance."

Meanwhile, left-back Luke Shaw has said that on his Instagram account that his return to outdoor training with a physio is going "really well." The 20-year-old has been out with a double-fractured leg since September.
