Man United's Anthony Martial: I like setting up goals as much as scoring

Manchester United's Anthony Martial has described himself as a selfless striker as he enjoys creating goals as much as scoring them.

Martial, 20, has only struck twice in his last 16 Premier League games for United but recorded two assists in Friday's 3-1 FA Cup fourth-round win at Derby.

And the France international, who arrived at Old Trafford from Monaco last summer, said he derives as much pleasure from setting up others to score as he does in finding the net himself.

"I have always been considered as an altruistic person," he told MUTV. "This is something that has been said to me quite a lot. So both giving a decisive pass or scoring a goal means as much to me. At the end, the most important thing is to win as a team."

Martial began his United career with four goals in as many games but has only managed four more since then.

"I have a number in mind [a goals target] but I'd rather keep it to myself," he added. "I think it's important to keep working hard to constantly improve and help the team to win titles and get back on top of the league table."

United made Martial the most expensive teenager in world football when they paid Monaco an initial £36 million for him.

And the forward feels he is continuing his education at Old Trafford, particularly by playing with captain Wayne Rooney.

"[I improve] by training every day with talented players," he said. "Especially with Wayne Rooney, I learn a lot from him. I always try to get inspired from him so that I can also become a great player."
