Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has hit out at manager Louis van Gaal again, saying the club just need to focus on attacking football. Scholes, who played 718 times and won 11 Premier League titles during a glittering career at Old Trafford, and Van Gaal have engaged in a war of words in recent weeks. The former midfielder said the Dutchman's teams lacked "creativity and risk" and said his tactics made life harder for out-of-form captain Wayne Rooney, while Van Gaal hit back saying "names will never hurt me." Van Gaal wants United to play a passing style, which he said had been confirmed by a 44-pass goal against Southampton in September. But Scholes still wants to see more focus on attacking football. "It hasn't been great for 13 months, but I better not say too much because Louis might be listening," he said at a charity event at Hotel Football. "There's been talk of a philosophy, a process. For me, Manchester United don't need a philosophy. "The fans want to see attacking football and goals -- that's the Manchester United way." However, Scholes is pleased to see 22-year-old midfielder Jesse Lingard -- who has made seven appearances in all competitions for United this season -- get a chance in the first team. "It's been good to see Jesse Lingard in the team. It's good to see a young lad come through the ranks and do well," he added. "I thought he was United's best player against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League recently."
