Sergio Romero has told ESPN FC he is happy at Manchester United and is waiting for his chance to try and reclaim his place in the starting XI.
Romero, who is currently away on international duty with Argentina for the games against arch-rivals Brazil and Colombia, started the season as United's No.1 keeper after his arrival on a free transfer in the summer due to the uncertainty over the future of David De Gea.
The 28-year-old started the first six games of the season, but, after De Gea signed a new deal at Old Trafford following his failed move to Real Madrid, the Argentine has lost his place in the side to the Spaniard.
Romero has made just one start for United since the end of August -- in the Capital One Cup defeat to Middlesbrough.
However, the former Sampdoria goalkeeper says he is not considering his future at the club despite his lack of action.
"I am not really thinking [about the future], at least not in this moment," Romero told ESPN FC. "There is a lot of time to see what happens.
"I don't think too much in the future I prefer to live what is going on every day. In football you never know what could happen. Today you play, tomorrow you don't.
"What I know is that you always have to be ready for when the chance comes. Nobody is the owner of any position in football.
"I am happy at Manchester United. I am at one of the most important English teams and one of the most important teams in the world."
Romero says he knew it would be a battle to be a regular in the United side. "If I say no it would be a lie," Romero added regarding being first-choice goalkeeper.
"But I knew from the first minute that it wasn't going to be easy as there are guys in the team that have a great quality and that I was going to have to win my place.
"In this job you have to show every day that you are the one that deserves the position. Van Gaal is a very intelligent coach with a lot of experience. He knows what he does and what he decides is the best for the team.
"We have to accept his decisions and wait for the moment in which he chooses you for playing. So, the only thing that you can do is to train hard, be in concentration all the time and when your chance arrives try to take advantage of it."
Despite not playing regularly for United, Romero remains Argentina's No. 1 keeper and he is happy to have the trust of Argentina coach Gerardo Martino.
"Martino trusts in my conditions," Romero said. "He asks me to do the same thing that I do at Manchester United.
"Van Gaal always wants me to play with my feet and to be an option for the defenders and that is very useful for me when I have to come to play for Argentina."
Romero will get the chance to impress in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against arch-rivals and Colombia, but the keeper believes he has nothing to prove to van Gaal while away playing for Argentina
"I don't know if he will be watching the games live because we play too late for UK time," added Romero. "Anyway, he will get to know how we have done.
"Therefore, he can see how I am when I am at Manchester United, he doesn't have any need to watch the games I play, besides that it's a derby between Argentina and Brazil, he knows me very well".
