Man United's Memphis Depay still adjusting to physical Premier League

Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has confessed he is still adjusting to the physical demands of being a United player, but insists his move to Old Trafford was the right step for his career.

Depay transferred from PSV Eindhoven for a reported fee of £25 million in June. While the Netherlands international has showed flashes of his talent, he has failed produce on a consistent basis for Louis van Gaal's side.

United are back in the Champions League this season after qualifying for the group stage via a two-legged playoff in August, adding to the demanding run of fixtures early in the season.

"There are a lot of games in Manchester. There are very few rest days and on training days you are mainly concerned with recovering," Depay told De Telegraaf on Wednesday.

"It's heavy, two games a week, always at a high level, and my body has to get used to that."

Depay has done his best work for United in the Champions League, scoring three goals over his four appearances in Europe's top club competition thus far -- included one in the 2-1 defeat at his former club in their group-stage opener.

He believes his best is still yet to come, and that he has found the proper place at which his game can grow, adding: "I try to manage my career in steps, and I am still in the middle. I think this was the right step and I am happy in Manchester ... I'm still developing."
