David De Gea has no problems with Van Gaal, Man United fans - Juan Mata

Juan Mata is confident that David De Gea will receive a good reception from Manchester United fans and Louis van Gaal when the goalkeeper returns to Old Trafford from international duty.

De Gea, 24, was linked with Real Madrid all summer and appeared to be on his way to the Primera Division giants on Spain's transfer deadline day of Aug. 31.

Madrid's Costa Rican keeper Keylor Navas was due to move to United as part of the deal but the clubs were unable to complete the move before the deadline, meaning De Gea is under contract with the Red Devils for another season.

Mata, who is with De Gea in Skopje for Spain's Euro 2016 qualifying game against Macedonia on Tuesday, told EFE: "I don't think there is going to be any type of problem upon his return, neither from the club, nor the coach or the fans.

"This is what I perceive. The fans love him a lot, he is very well considered by the club and by the coach. I believe everything will continue to be the same."

De Gea has not spoken since his €30 million transfer to Madrid fell through, but Los Blancos president Florentino Perez said of De Gea in a recent interview: "I was told that he was very affected because he had high hopes of joining Real Madrid."

However, Mata has been impressed that De Gea has maintained his cool throughout this ordeal.

"The past few days I've spoken to him a lot," Mata said. "Although it has been a busy time, with a lot of stress, he is such a calm person that he remains focused.

"Nothing changes him. He is going to continue to be the great goalkeeper he was."

De Gea has made 131 appearances for United since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011, but has not played for the Red Devils since July 29.

United manager Louis van Gaal has started free summer signing Sergio Romero instead, and De Gea will have to fight with the Argentina international to reclaim his No. 1 spot.

Following his failed move to his home town of Madrid, De Gea has been included in United's Champions League squad.

De Gea's inclusion is great news for Mata, who added: "The past two years David has been the best player in the team for his saves and the many points those gave us.

"I have no doubt that this year is also going to be very good for him."

Mata also joked that De Gea -- who reportedly put his house and car up for sale this summer -- would be able to save some money since they live near each other in England and can carpool to save on petrol.
