Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that captain Wayne Rooney has a say in team selection.
Speaking at a news conference before his side take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, Van Gaal said he was "very pleased" with the 29-year-old's involvement.
"Things like the selection and the kitchen [what food is eaten] and the members of staff -- everything you can mention, he is involved," he said.
"That is why I am very pleased. He is the most social guy and also very responsible.
"I think he trusts me, so that is also very important, and I trust him. So when he comes to me and has remarks, I pay always attention."
Van Gaal said Rooney "has the confidence to say things that it is not always normal to say for players" which was "good for the atmosphere in the dressing room."
Rooney scored his first goals of the season when he grabbed a hat trick in United's Champions League playoff victory against Club Brugge on Wednesday.
"As a player, he is the example for everybody and his mentality is also from a very high level. I don't think that many players have the experience of Wayne," Van Gaal added.
The United boss has also confirmed that defender Chris Smalling is now his "third captain" behind Rooney and Michael Carrick.
