Adnan Januzaj out for Man United against Swansea with calf injury

Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out of Manchester United's game at Swansea on Sunday with a calf injury.

Louis van Gaal has said he faces a decision on who to play as a No. 10 at the Liberty Stadium with Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in contention to take over from Januzaj.

The Spaniard scored his first goal of the season in Wednesday's 4-0 win over Club Brugge when he played as a No. 10 in the second half.

But Fellaini is eligible to make his first Premier League appearance of the season after completing a three-match ban for his red card at Hull in May.

The Belgian's only appearance of the current campaign was as a substitute in the Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge, when he scored United's third goal at Old Trafford.

"I started this season with Herrera as a No. 10 so it is possible [he will be picked]," said Van Gaal in a news conference. "Adnan Januzaj is injured so he cannot play. Fellaini is not suspended any more."

Marcos Rojo played an hour for a second-string United side as they beat Ajax 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday as he tried to step up his fitness after missing United's preseason tour of America because of passport issues.

Sean Goss, James Wilson, Jesse Lingard, Tyler Blackett and Antonio Valencia all figured.

"We won 2-1, so that was also good and Sean Goss scored the first goal, a fantastic goal, out of a pass from Wilson and Wilson scored the second goal," Van Gaal added.

Defender Phil Jones is still absent with the mild thrombosis that has kept him out all season. He is back in training and scheduled to return to first-team contention after the international break.

Goalkeeper David De Gea will sit out a sixth successive game as Van Gaal continues to omit the Spaniard, who has attracted interest from Real Madrid, while the transfer window remains open.
