Matteo Darmian set for Manchester United dream move - manager

Torino manager Giampiero Ventura has confirmed that Matteo Darmian is set for a move to Manchester United that will allow him to play in the Champions League.

ESPN FC sources confirmed on Tuesday that Manchester United are interested in the Italy right-back, and his manager told Sky Sports Italia on Wednesday that Darmian will complete a move over the next couple of days valued at €20m.

"Matteo Darmian will play for Manchester United. It's a dream for him," Ventura said.

"It's true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United.

"Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised."

The transfer is pending a medical that could take place as soon as Friday.

"In these four years we've gone from Serie B and a great depression to the top flight and the enthusiasm of the Europa League," Ventura said.

"We worked with Darmian for many years and it's only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true.

"A sale can happen, the important thing is that we're able to plan an even stronger squad in future. We're on the right track and as always the objective is to earn a place in Europe."

United turned their attention to Darmian after ruling out a move for Nathaniel Clyne, who signed with Liverpool, and Dani Alves, who signed a new contract at Barcelona.
