Angel Di Maria believes Manchester United's visit to Liverpool this weekend is a potentially season-defining game.
United go to Anfield on Sunday in fourth place, but knowing that fifth-placed Liverpool will overhaul them and move into the final Champions League spot with a victory.
Louis van Gaal's team are in a run of fixtures against their rivals in the upper part of the table, after just beating Tottenham 3-0 and with April encounters against Manchester City and Chelsea to come.
And record signing Di Maria, who will be available to feature at Anfield after he was suspended for the Tottenham game, is aware of their significance.
"We are all aware that a number of big games are just around the corner, and the season will be decided by these fixtures," Di Maria told United Review.
"We know all about these upcoming games and we have been thinking and talking about them for quite some time now. We've known that everything would be at stake over this final period of the season."
The £59.7 million winger hopes United's tradition of finishing seasons strongly will be maintained as they look to return to Europe's premier club competition.
"Everyone at the club is 100 percent confident, we know we want to get back into the Champions League and that we want to be fighting it out," he added.
"We'll battle hard right to the end of the season. From what I know of the club, United always fight right to the end and that's what we're going to do."
