Manchester United have yet to decide on Radamel Falcao future - report

Manchester United have not yet made a decision on the future of Radamel Falcao, Press Association Sport has reported.

United won the race to sign Falcao on a season-long loan from Monaco last summer.

But the Colombian, regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, has failed to sparkle so far, scoring just four goals in 20 appearances.

Reports in France on Wednesday claimed United had informed Monaco that they would not be exercising their option to buy Falcao in a permanent 43 million-pound deal.

However, PA Sport said United manager Louis van Gaal would wait until May before deciding whether to make the loan move for the 29-year-old permanent.

Despite the slow start to Falcao's Old Trafford career, the United hierarchy insisted at the turn of the year that he would come good.

Senior sources were said to be impressed by his work ethic which they compared to that of Cristiano Ronaldo, who spent six successful years at Old Trafford before moving to Real Madrid.

Falcao is likely to get an extended run in the first team in the coming weeks as Robin van Persie is out with an ankle injury sustained in the defeat at Swansea last month.

Although he failed to score against Sunderland last Saturday, Falcao won the penalty that led to United's first goal in a 2-0 win.

Last month, Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev said the club were waiting for United to make a decision on Falcao and could welcome him back to Ligue 1.
