Man United spend club-record £72m

Manchester United's signing of Marcos Rojo took their expenditure this summer to 72 million pounds ($120 million), making it a club-record outlay for any transfer window.

The Argentina defender arrived from Sporting Lisbon for 16 million pounds, following on from the arrivals of 28.8 million-pound midfielder Ander Herrera and 27 million-pound left-back Luke Shaw.

And it meant United have now spent more than they did in 2007, when they bought Anderson, Nani and Owen Hargreaves, loaned Carlos Tevez and 62 million pounds.

United have also spent 195 million pounds in the last five transfer windows and broke their club record to sign Juan Mata for 37.1 million pounds in January 2014.
