Salford want United legends to play
Salford City hope Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Phil Neville or Nicky Butt can be convinced to play for them next season.
The Northern Premier League side are owned by the Manchester United 'Class of 92' who are hands on in their running of the club.
Giggs, Scholes and Gary Neville watched the pre-season friendly victory against Daisy Hill on Saturday while Phil Neville ran a coaching session on Thursday night.
In quotes reported by BBC Sport, Salford chairman Karen Baird revealed there are hopes the United legends will play on a casual basis.
She said: "It would be nice if some of them did play, maybe in some of the FA Cup rounds."
Giggs, Scholes, Butt and the Neville brothers hope to guide the club through the divisions using young, local players.
Of the impact made since their purchase of the club, Baird added: "It is unlike any season we have had," said Baird. "It is absolutely crazy. There have been new players coming in, a new training regime, new kit - there is a real buzz about the club."
