Old Trafford manager David Moyes also thinks that defenders Rafael da Silva and Jonny Evans may be available for this weekend’s must-win match against Brendan Rodgers’ Premier League title challengers.
Striker Hernandez -- who has made just four league starts for United this season -- missed the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over West Brom with a knee injury sustained in Mexico’s 0-0 draw against Nigeria last week.
Right-back Rafael came off in the closing minutes against Albion while centre-back Evans, who had suffered a setback after sustaining a calf injury, has not featured since the defeat at Stoke on Feb.1.
Winger Nani has sat out United’s last 19 matches after incurring a hamstring problem in the Dec. 7 defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford, but Moyes had positive news on the Portuguese’s
"Nani is back. He had a really bad hamstring injury. But he is back and has trained," said Moyes.
"Hopefully we get him up to speed very quickly. Rafael, Javier Hernandez and Jonny Evans are all coming along. They all have a chance of playing on Sunday."
Former Everton manager Moyes suffered his first defeat in charge of United against Liverpool in September, but beat them 1-0 later that month in the Capital One Cup courtesy of a Hernandez winner.
Liverpool have lost on each of their last six visits to Old Trafford but arrive 11 points ahead of United in the league, and Moyes admitted: "Their league position suggests they’re ahead of us. They possibly do come here favourites."
The 50-year-old boss believes another victory would bring major benefits to United, adding: "It would be a big boost to win. It's still the biggest game in the country and we'll do everything we possibly can to beat them."
