Pep Guardiola said it is good for the Premier League to see teams trying to beat Manchester City, though he declined to criticise managers whose teams sit back and defend.
Wolves won plaudits for their brave performance on Saturday when they claimed a 1-1 draw against last season's champions as they became only City's third opponents since the beginning of last season to register double figures in efforts on goal.
"If I say I admire the way [they play], I'm saying maybe the other ones I don't like it or I'm criticising them," Guardiola told a news conference. "Every manager can do what they want because they know their teams. I don't like it when other managers judge my job or do what they want to do.
"The other managers decide because they know their team, their players and they saw our games and decide to play in that way. It looks perfect. To discover the secret it depends what the opponents want to do and try to beat them.
"But I think for all the spectators here in the stadium and everybody watching on TV, they enjoyed it because they had chances and we had chances. And I think for the Premier League it's good."
City's next opponents are Newcastle United, who were ultra-defensive when the two sides met on both occasions in the Premier League last season.
The Magpies continued that style on Sunday when they had just 19 percent possession in their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea and Guardiola is already planning for a tough fixture.
"We know how difficult it will be, imagine against Newcastle and Rafa Benitez will be tough," he said. "They are well-organised defensively and we have one week to prepare.
"That rumour of how good we are -- we are a good team but the league is so long and we've done only three league games and there's a lot still to do."
Following the Newcastle game, Guardiola will see most of his player leave Manchester for the international break.
The Catalan believes the real season starts when the Champions League and domestic cup competitions kick off with matches twice a week.
"After we come back from the international break starts the real season in terms of games, games, games," he said.
