Benjamin Mendy will not stop joking around on social media but he has vowed to put his phone away in the dressing room.
Pep Guardiola had called on the Manchester City defender to forget about social media after joking that he sometimes wanted to kill him after the opening game of the season against Arsenal.
When the City manager's comments were tweeted by the club's official feed, Mendy replied: "Oops", and he was straight back on Twitter after Sunday's 6-1 win over Huddersfield Town, posting a picture of himself splashing water on the club doctor.
"I don't change but in the dressing room I don't use my phone at all. It's better," he said. "Every time I am with my phone I am on Instagram or Twitter and just now I need to be careful. When I am at the training centre, the CFA, I don't use my phone but instead I listen to the manager.
"I know the fans love it, but the manager is the chief of the team, so when he says something I have to listen to him. Every player understands this. So in the dressing room, everywhere, I don't pick up my phone."
The France international has made an impressive start to the season with three assists in City's opening games as they returned to the top of the Premier League.
Mendy is already top of the assists table, which has been topped by teammate Kevin De Bruyne for the past two seasons, who is out for three months due to a knee injury.
"We are not the same. Kevin is Kevin, an amazing player, and I give my best for the team," Mendy said. "I prefer an assist to scoring a goal -- for me it's more beautiful. It is my vision. If I can score but there is a player to pass to, I give them the ball."
