Manchester City's Premier League title parade draws around 100k fans

MANCHESTER -- Around 100,000 Manchester City fans lined the streets of the city as Pep Guardiola's side celebrated their record-breaking Premier League title success with a parade on Monday.

Guardiola was joined by the first-team squad on two open-top buses driving through the city centre, holding the Premier League and Carabao Cup trophy before addressing the crowd.

The City boss joked that it was "easy" to collect a record 100 points on the season before adding that he is looking forward to spending the summer on the sofa.

"Now is the time to enjoy what we've done this season," Guardiola told City fans. "It's not the time to talk of next season.

"This summer we'll watch the World Cup on the sofa -- we'll have some good beer, and some good red wine and enjoy what we have done. Then we'll try to come back stronger than this season.

"Thank you for coming, guys. We are delighted to share what we have done together."

The majority of the City first-team squad were there to celebrate, including Yaya Toure, who will be leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Ivory Coast man looked close to tears as the fans chanted his name. And he thanked them for their loyal support.

The only two players who were missing were striker Sergio Aguero, who has returned to Argentina for treatment on his knee ahead of the World Cup, and midfielder David Silva.

Silva has returned to Spain but sent over a video of him cradling his son Mateo, who was born prematurely in December.

The midfielder has been travelling back and forth to see Mateo throughout the season and thanked everyone for their support.

"I want to apologise for not being able to celebrate here with you today," he said.

"Thank you for understanding my situation. I will be in debt with you forever, so thank you very much."

Silva also sent a special message to Toure, with whom he has worked at the Etihad Stadium for the past eight seasons, winning three Premier League titles, three League Cups and an FA Cup.

"In the future, I will be able to tell my son I played with the best African footballer ever," he added.

"I wish you the best of luck. I want to say [to] everyone, enjoy tonight."
