Pep Guardiola to attend Kevin De Bruyne's summer youth tournament

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has accepted an invitation to attend a youth tournament organised by Kevin De Bruyne this summer.

De Bruyne's KDB Cup tournament for under-15 teams has become an annual fixture in his native town of Drongen, Belgium, and the 12,000 inhabitants will have a special guest at the event in early June.

"We sent an invitation to Guardiola because Manchester City will take part for the first time this year," Paul Naudts, the KDB Cup president, told reporters in Belgium. "To our great surprise, Guardiola himself replied that he absolutely did not want to miss the event.

"We didn't believe it, and we double-checked, with Kevin in particular. It was only after that that we were sure he was really coming."

The two-day tournament, staged on the very pitches where De Bruyne first played, begins on June 2. It will feature the U15 teams of City, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit St Petersburg, among others, against Belgian sides such as Anderlecht and Genk.
