Pitch invader attempted to approach Pep Guardiola during Leicester match

A pitch invader attempted to approach Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola during the Carabao Cup tie at Leciester City on Tuesday.

Stewards tackled a man who jumped onto the pitch and got within yards of Guardiola as he issued instructions from his technical area during the match, which City won on penalties.

The man slipped over and shouted at Guardiola as three security men manhandled him away from the pitch midway through the second half.

Guardiola played down the incident at his postmatch news conference, saying: "He wanted my shirt, but it was slippy. Next time he has to change his shoes.

"But I was safe. No problem."

Leicester are set to launch an investigation into the incident.

Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was City's penalty hero as they kept their hopes of a quadruple alive and reached the semifinals.

Bravo saved Riyad Mahrez' penalty as City won the shootout 4-3 following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Jamie Vardy had scored Leicester's equaliser with an injury-time penalty, cancelling out Bernado Silva's opener, but failed from the spot in the shootout.
