Pep Guardiola delighted with lethal Manchester City after six-goal show

WATFORD -- Pep Guardiola said he had been able to enjoy Manchester City's performance as they dismantled Watford 6-0 at Vicarage Road.

Sergio Aguero scored a hat trick and there were also goals for Gabriel Jesus, Nicolas Otamendi and Raheem Sterling as Ctiy moved to the top of the table for 24 hours at least.

Guardiola's side have scored 15 goals in their last three fixtures following emphatic wins over Liverpool in the Premier League and Feyenoord in the Champions League.

And he told a news conference: "I'm a spectator like you, so of course [I enjoy watching it]. When I sit there, like all the managers I like to see the team play good.

"We played really good, especially after the Champions League game away, against Watford, who were unbeaten until now with a top manager [Marco Silva] who showed at Hull City how well he works.

"Of course the result is important, but so is the way we played. I am delighted, I am so happy for the players for the way we played.

"We gave a good performance and we are so happy with what we have done. The first 30 minutes against Liverpool were so equal, but the second half and against Feyenoord and today we were so, so good."

Striker Aguero now has five goals in three games and has moved to within two goals of becoming City's all-time record goal scorer.

He could have had one more had Sterling not taken a last-minute penalty away from him after the England international was brought down by Watford defender Christian Kabasele.

Asked whether that decision was with his blessing, Guardiola joked: "With 0-5, yeah! I like the penalties shot by the takers, but I understand Raz created the penalty and Sergio shows what a good guy he is.

"He is so important for us. A hat trick is not easy, so all the credit to him."

Watford boss Silva felt City were much stronger but had been given a helping hand by referee Anthony Taylor.

"It's not a good afternoon for us," he said. "City deserved the three points, but I think they are strong enough to come here, to create problems, to win the match.

"The first goal is offside, the second goal we made a big mistake for them to create a goal and again the third goal is offside.

"We reacted well in the second half and we had one clear penalty -- it wouldn't change the score, I'm sure City will win the match -- but it would have given us more confidence."
