Man City fined by UEFA over Monaco game, accept FA charge over Liverpool

Manchester City have been fined by UEFA, just hours after accepting a separate misconduct charge from the Football Association for failing to control their players during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

City were fined €18,000 (£15,573) by UEFA for three offences during their Champions League clash with Monaco at the Etihad Stadium last month.

They were found guilty of charges relating to a pitch invasion, the throwing of objects and a delayed kickoff during the round-of-16 first leg on Feb. 21, the European governing body announced.

Against Liverpool, a number of players were seen to surround referee Michael Oliver after he awarded Jurgen Klopp's side a penalty just after half-time.

City were fined £35,000 by the FA in December after failing to control their players in a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea when Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were sent off late in the fixture.

The latest charge followed an incident in the 50th minute of their draw with Liverpool when Gael Clichy was adjudged to have brought down striker Roberto Firmino in the penalty area.

James Milner scored the penalty for the visitors before Aguero levelled for City in the 69th minute to rescue a point.
