Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could make January signing

MANCHESTER -- Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has not ruled out making a signing in the January transfer window.

Striker Gabriel Jesus, who joined from Palmeiras in the summer, will arrive at City in the New Year after completing a loan spell with the Brazilian champions.

Guardiola said he was happy with his squad but added that the club would consider making a move if the right player was available.

"I have confidence in the players that we have," he told a news conference ahead of City's game at Hull on Boxing Day.

"I'm not denying maybe we are going to look for something -- I'm not saying that, but I think that right now it is not going to happen.

"And what we have to do, the quality that we have, I have to be able to convince them all of their qualities. That is what we have to do.

"I'm happy with the players and we're going to finish the season with all of them -- or almost all of them."

City could look to add a midfielder, having lost Germany international Ilkay Gundogan for the rest of the season to a knee ligament injury.

Guardiola has also been linked with a number of defenders ,with captain Vincent Kompany missing much of the season with persistent injuries.
