Pep Guardiola: Manchester City players returned fit but tired

MANCHESTER -- Pep Guardiola has a full squad to choose from for Manchester City's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday but says some of his players are tired.

Defender Bacary Sagna is back with the squad after recovering from a hamstring tear that has kept him out for five weeks, while Claudio Bravo and David Silva are over knocks they picked up in international week.

Vincent Kompany is also in contention for a place in the squad after he was pulled out of Belgium's friendly with Netherlands last Friday minutes before kickoff.

Guardiola's biggest concern is over the fatigue that his South American players suffered while travelling back for World Cup qualifiers. Argentina's Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and Nicolas Otamendi, Brazil's Fernandinho and Chile's Bravo all returned home for important matches.

"All the players came back good, fit," the City boss told a news conference. "The players who played 90 minutes and [another] 90 minutes are tired, especially the South American players, but even the English and even the German players, but that is normal, so tomorrow we will decide.

"But they are fit, no injuries, that is the most important thing. Some -- when they come back from the national team -- their regeneration is quicker than the other ones, for the physical condition, for many many things.

"I am still getting to know my players, how they react after that situation. But it is important they come back good.

"We have a game and a match in Germany in three or four days and after three days later we have Burnley so everyone is going to play."

Palace have lost their last four Premier League matches and sit just one point above the relegation zone.

However, Guardiola has warned they are a very dangerous opponent and picked out striker Christian Benteke as a particular threat to his side that have kept just two clean sheets in the Premier League this season.

"When I see a team I never look at the position of the table," he added. "I see the games, I don't go to see which position they are I try to analyse what they do and especially when they play good, they are strong, it is not easy.

"They cross a lot and Benteke in the box is unstoppable.

"Every game is different. Maybe tomorrow they make the best performance ever or maybe not so this kind of thing does not depend upon which position they are in now."
