MANCHESTER -- Pep Guardiola has told Sergio Aguero that he must deal with the criticism thrown at him following Argentina's struggles in their World Cup qualifiers.
The Manchester City striker saw a penalty easily saved by Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Villar in a 1-0 defeat in Cordoba on Tuesday.
It's a result that leaves Argentina outside the automatic qualification places and Aguero was booed by fans after the final whistle, along with the rest of his teammates.
The 28-year-old has scored 11 goals in eight games for City this season, but his last goal for Argentina was on June 10 during the Copa America.
Aguero said he sometimes feels like a "bad player" when playing for his country but Guardiola says many great players have faced criticism in their home countries.
"Emotionally he's fine, he's very well. But you have to know, we are all criticised," he told a news conference ahead of City's game with Everton on Saturday.
"An Argentine in Argentina, a Brazilian in Brazil, a Spaniard in Spain, the players across the world and the managers across the world.
"It can make you stronger, you can put up with it or else you're better find something else to do.
"It's not exclusive to Sergio, it's happening to Leo [Messi] too, with Di Maria. It happens to Dani Alves in Brazil, to Neymar in Brazil, to Raz [Raheem Sterling] in England. When you play badly and you lose, they kill you."
Aguero had been doubtful for the game against Paraguay due to an adductor problem but played the full 90 minutes.
Guardiola said he will assess the players that have come back from international duty before picking his side for the Premier League clash with Everton.
"I'm going to see how the internationals are physically, their mentality, their mental approach," the City boss said. "Some of the players recover quickly, others need more time."
