Manchester City defender John Stones is dreaming of the captaining both his new club and England in the future.
Stones, 22, become the world's second-most expensive defender when he joined City from Everton for a reported £47.5 million in the summer, which also made him England's second-most expensive player after teammate Raheem Sterling.
The former Barnsley player has started all seven of Pep Guardiola's games as City boss, which have all been victories. And he wants to go on to wear the captain's armband, which is currently worn by Vincent Kompany with Pablo Zabaleta as vice-captain.
"I'd like to be captain one day," Stones said. "Every player wants to be captain of their team and to do so for years to come.
"It's a privileged position to be in to captain your club and country. These are dreams you dream about when you're a little boy.
"You have to deserve the right to be captain but I'd love to be one day and I'll keep working hard to try to be."
Along with former teammate Ross Barkley, he was one of two outfield players who did not see a minute of action for England under Roy Hodgson at the Euros. But he was in Sam Allardyce's starting lineup for his first match in charge, a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win in Slovakia, his 11th cap.
