Sergio Aguero determined to seal Champions League glory at Man City

MANCHESTER, England -- Sergio Aguero says he is determined to end his Manchester City career with a Champions League winners' medal.

"I still have three years more here and I hope to achieve that at some point as it's really important for any player," Aguero told reporters.

The Argentina striker has started this season's competition in spectacular fashion scoring two hat tricks in his first two appearances including three in Wednesday's 4-0 Group C opener against Borussia Monchengladbach.

City reached the semifinals last year before losing out to Real Madrid but they struggled in the Champions League in the previous four seasons, failing to get beyond the round of 16.

But Aguero believes City now have the best squad to mount a Champions League challenge although he insists it won't be easy overhauling the leading sides in Europe.

He said: "Obviously the Champions League is not easy, there are a lot of fantastic teams as well. But my idea and the club's idea is the same -- try to win this competition.

"I think [against Monchengladbach] we played really good, but there are other teams that are more candidates. Barcelona, Madrid or Bayern are the type of teams that are always there.

"We have been working and improving in the last three years. The club has signed new players and a new coach in order to keep improving and we are ready to achieve a Champions League final. I don't know if it is going to be this year, but we will try."

Aguero has started the season in blistering form scoring nine goals in five games -- the only blemish is a three-match ban in the Premier League for elbowing West Ham defender Winston Reid.

The 28-year-old is thriving under new City boss Pep Guardiola and says the Spaniard has already made a huge impact on his game.

"I'm really happy with the way we have started the season," he added. "We are playing with a different system this year, another way of playing. Each manager has his own style and we are adapting to Pep's tactics. We worked really hard on the preseason and we are still doing every day.

"I'm really happy with the new manager. According to my style of play, he is one of the managers that have helped me most in my career.

"Despite [the fact that] in the Premier League, and my last season at Atletico, I've improved in my game near the box and scoring goals, with Pep I will get even more chances."

But Aguero is not simply a goal scorer and said that he must play his part in Guardiola's tactics to win the ball back as quickly as possible.

"Pep demands the same of everyone and he does the same to me, I have to help to mark, to help on the offensive side and with everything -- defend and attack," he said.
