Nolito surprised by Manchester City's great start under Pep Guardiola

STOKE, England -- Manchester City winger Nolito has said he is surprised by how quickly the team has gelled under Pep Guardiola.

Spain international Nolito, who joined from Celta Vigo in a £13.8 million deal, has scored three goals in his first three games as City have made a perfect start to the season.

He scored twice in the 4-1 victory at Stoke City on Saturday to add his strike in Tuesday's 5-0 Champions League victory over Steaua Bucharest.

"I didn't expect such a performance [at Stoke]. We all know how tough the Premier League is," he told reporters.

"Sometimes you start, sometimes you're a replacement, but the thing is that we won and now we need to stay calm.

"We work as a team -- we like teamwork. Sometimes I will score a goal, sometimes the other guys, but what matters is the victory. It doesn't matter who gets the goals."

The 29-year-old revealed in the summer that he turned down Barcelona to move to City and join up with Guardiola.

Nolito worked with the Catalan when they were together at the Camp Nou earlier in their careers and said he felt the City players were starting to get to grips with the coach's tactics.

"We are all picking up the concepts of Guardiola, and I am here because I know his style of play," he added. "It is not always easy -- the conditions at Stoke weren't good and it was tough for us, but we did it and that is the important thing.

"We hear a lot of thing from the fans and from the press, but we will always try to play our way, no matter what the conditions in any stadium.

"Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't depending on our opposition -- but we must just try to win."
