Fabian Delph: Pep Guardiola is the 'best manager in the world'

Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph says he will be working with the "best manager in the world" after just three weeks of preseason with new boss Pep Guardiola.

And the England international believes his own game will improve under the Spanish coach.

Delph had a tough first season at the Etihad after his £8 million summer move from Aston Villa -- starting just 14 games of an injury-hit campaign.

He was named in England's 26-man provisional squad for the European Championships in France but was one of the four to miss Roy Hodgson's final cut.

The 26-year-old is now determined to be part of Guardiola's plans and says the high-energy pressing game he demands will suit his style.

"Every manager has their own methods, their own systems of play -- there's no two alike," Delph said.

"I believe we've got the best manager in the world here at City -- already in the first two to three weeks I've been so impressed with what we've been doing -- the different systems, the intensity of training, his man management skills -- it's been brilliant for me.

"It's so intense -- high pressing, very energetic. It's been tough but it's been very, very good."

Delph was a second half substitute in Guardiola's first game in charge -- the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

And he says the game was a useful runout as they get used to the new system under the former Barcelona and Bayern boss.

"It was our first game, because of that we're trying to implement the systems we've been working on," he said.

"It's not going to happen overnight but the boys are switched on and eager to impress the new manager -- we're all really enjoying our football."
