Iheanacho: 'Everything is different' at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has already had an impact on his new Manchester City squad on the training pitch, according to striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager officially took over as the new City boss on July 1 and took his first training session at the Etihad Campus four days later.

And Iheanacho says Guardiola has already introduced some new concepts to training ahead of his first season in the Premier League.

"Guardiola is a good manager, everyone knows that," Iheanacho told Sky Sports. "He's bringing fresh thoughts and his own style.

"Everything is different and everyone is adapting to what he's teaching us. We need to understand what he's telling us and what he wants to bring to the team."

Iheanacho is hoping to establish himself in Guardiola's squad after breaking into the first team in August before going on to score 12 goals for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

The 19-year-old spent part of the summer home in Nigeria with family and friends before returning to Manchester determined to build on his breakthrough campaign.

"It's been good. I love going back to see my family and friends," he said. "Everyone kept coming up to me telling me I've done a great job and that I need to keep working hard. When you play football in the Premier League, everybody is watching.

"Last season was great for me and there were some good highlights. Scoring my [first] goal against Crystal Palace and playing against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu, those were good feelings.

"But that was last season and it's history. Now it's a new season and we need to focus."

Iheanacho became City's second choice striker behind Sergio Aguero towards the end of last season -- moving above Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Bony in the pecking order.

But the teenager says he is happy to play in any attacking position for Guardiola including as a second striker behind Aguero.

"In my country, that's where I started playing -- I was a No. 10," he added. "For my club, I play more as a striker but I can play in both positions.

"I can play as a striker or I can play as a No 10. I can even play on the wing as well. I can play in any position."
