Pep Guardiola has already visited Manchester City - source

Pep Guardiola has already visited Manchester City's Etihad Campus to ensure everything is in place for when he takes over at the club, a source has told ESPN FC.

The Spaniard doesn't officially take charge until July 1 but he has already made two visits to Manchester's training base as well as meeting with City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, according to the source.

Guardiola visited the £200 million Etihad Campus a few days after Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final, which secured his fifth major trophy in three years with the Bundesliga champions.

He visited Manchester again on Friday while he has also flown out to meet chairman Al Mubarak in Abu Dhabi since the season ended.

The 45-year-old former Barcelona man met staff including veteran assistant boss Brian Kidd, who is expected to remain part of Guardiola's coaching team.

Guardiola also met up with director of football and close friend Txiki Begiristain, who is set to handle this summer's recruitment with up to eight new players set to arrive at the Etihad Campus in a major first-team squad overhaul. The pair worked together at the Nou Camp along with City chief executive Ferran Soriano.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has already joined the club in a deal worth a reported £21 million in what is expected to be a busy transfer window.

Guardiola is known for his attention to detail and will want everything in place at their training centre by the time City's first-team players start returning to Manchester ahead of a tour of China in July.
