Bacary Sagna relishing Manchester City's Champions League pressure

MANCHESTER -- Bacary Sagna says Manchester City are revelling in the pressure of trying to reach a Champions League semifinal.

City reached the quarterfinals of the competition for the first time in their history this season and now have a huge opportunity of making the last four following their 2-2 draw in the first leg at Paris Saint-Germain.

Sagna, who reached the semifinals with Arsenal in 2009, says he is excited to be involved in such big games with City and that all the squad are desperate to play against PSG.

He told a news conference: "We had never reached the quarterfinal before the first game away. We have the opportunity to reach the semifinal which would be great for the club and as a player it's always a pleasure to reach this stage of the competition.

"We still have a lot to do and we still have 90 minutes to play. When you play for Man City you always have a kind of pressure. No matter what game you play in you have to perform.

"And as a player you have to perform to keep your place in the squad. The standard is really high and we know we have to play well no matter who we are facing.

"Of course it's going to be special because it's the Champions League and Paris or City is going to qualify but we want to qualify and we want to be in the semifinal."

City have a small advantage going into Tuesday's game with PSG needing a win or high-scoring draw at the Etihad.

The French champions will be knocked out if they fail to score but Sagna believes City will need to be at their very best to keep out a daunting attack of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria, Lucas Moura and Edinson Cavani.

The City defender said: "PSG will remain a strong team. They've been champions for three weeks now and have quality players. They can be dangerous and it's a very good side so we have to be careful but we want to focus on our team.

"We are going to face a very good and difficult team but I am sure if we play our football we can beat them.

"All of them are dangerous. Ibrahimovic can hold the ball up well, he's quite strong and dangerous in the box. Di Maria has the kind of pace that you can struggle and has good crosses and assists.

"We know this already because we have been watching them for a long time now and we know they are dangerous players."
