David Silva available but Joe Hart out injured for Manchester City

MANCHESTER -- David Silva has finally returned to fitness for Manchester City but Joe Hart is set to sit out for at least three games.

Goalkeeper Hart came off in City's 1-0 defeat to Juventus with a muscle injury and is unlikely to play in their Premier League games against Southampton and Stoke and the Capital One Cup clash with Hull.

And while City received another injury boost with Wilfried Bony back in contention, they will be without five sidelined players for the Southampton game on Saturday.

Silva has missed City's last nine games with the ankle injury he sustained in Spain's win over Luxembourg last month and has suffered setbacks as he has continued to feel pain.

But Pellegrini said in a news conference: "David Silva and Wilfried Bony are both in the squad list.

"Joe Hart has a muscle injury. You never know as he improves but maybe he will be out for 10 days. Fortunately it is not a very serious injury but he has a muscle injury so it is important for him to recover well."

Hart's deputy Willy Caballero struggled in his only Premier League appearance this season, the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham, but Pellegrini believes the Argentine can cope in Hart's absence.

"I trust a lot in Willy Caballero so I am sure he will have a good performance in these games," he added.

"Maybe he made a mistake against Tottenham but I think a lot of goalkeepers make mistake. Every player makes mistakes. Willy played very well in both games in the Capital One Cup. We lost Joe in a very good moment but that happens."

Captain Vincent Kompany remains sidelined by a calf problem while Eliaquim Mangala will be out for the next two games and Pablo Zabaleta is unlikely to play in the next three because of his third knee injury of the season.

"Mangala has a muscle problem in his hamstring," Pellegrini explained. "I hope he will be fit for Stoke. Zabaleta has the same injury in his ligament in his knee. He needs to make a treatment. He will be out for at least 10 days."

Bony has missed City's last two games with the hamstring injury he suffered during the 0-0 draw at Aston Villa while fellow forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who is ineligible in Europe, is available again, but midfielder Samir Nasri remains out.
