Manchester City's Sergio Aguero fit vs. Liverpool, Silva doubt, Kompany out

MANCHESTER -- Sergio Aguero has been passed fit to make his Manchester City comeback against Liverpool but David Silva is a doubt and Vincent Kompany has been ruled out.

City will welcome back their top scorer, who struck five times in 20 minutes against Newcastle when he last played for them, at a time when his deputy Wilfried Bony is sidelined.

But while Aguero, who had targeted the clash with Jurgen Klopp's team for his return, is able to figure after missing seven games, Silva, who has been out for the same length of time, continues to suffer setbacks.

The World Cup winner sprained his ankle playing for Spain against Luxembourg last month and manager Manuel Pellegrini had hoped he would be back before the international break.

But he said in a news conference: "Sergio is fit. He is ready to come back. David continues with some small pain in his ankle so I think it is a risk for him to play. Unfortunately Samir Nasri continues to be injured and Bony and Vincent Kompany, both of them are out."

Bony, who started each of City's seven matches in Aguero's absence, came off in the 0-0 draw at Aston Villa with a hamstring injury while Nasri has been ruled out for three months.

Captain Kompany was withdrawn from the Belgium squad with gastroenteritis and is absent again, meaning that either Eliaquim Mangala or Martin Demichelis will partner Nicolas Otamendi in the centre of the defence.

City are also set to welcome back Pablo Zabaleta, who has missed City's last three games with the knee injury he suffered in October's Capital One Cup win over Crystal Palace.

Fabian Delph, who is yet to start a game for City because of two hamstring injuries, sat out England's friendly victory over France but should be fit.
